I arrived at the Lion's Lair on Denver's East Colfax Street on a frosty, cold winter Thursday night for a 3-band show featuring Hoverfly, Abandons and New Standards Men. Unfortunately, I had to hit the road back to Colorado Springs after the first band, Hoverfly played, but they were really phenomenal and totally worth the trip. I had been communicating with Carl Mease, the Band's excellent Bassist, and he and the rest of the guys were very gracious in-person. They will be in the studio recording an album this weekend, and I am really looking forward to hearing it. They put on a helluva live show, and if you have an opportunity to catch a Hoverfly gig, I would highly recommend it.
